Manufactured in France, in circa 1860, this classic rectangular mirror has been wonderfully cleaned to highlight the fine ebonised, carved wooden frame, which is of superb quality. While it is unknown who invented ebonising, the process became extremely popular in the early 19th century as ebony wood was no longer plentiful enough to meet demand.
